Kahana notifies you in Activity and, if you opt in, by email. You control message badges, message email, and activity email from Communication settings.

Activity
/activity is the in-app inbox for things like hub access requests, club join requests, and other account events. Open an item to act on it (for example, grant hub access from a club list request).
What you can tune
- Message badges in the app chrome
- Email when someone messages you
- Email for activity events
- Aura streak reminder email (hours before midnight UTC), from the Aura streak modal
Older /settings/notifications links redirect to Communication.
