- Messages and privacy
Messages let people write you from your profile. They are off until you allow them. You choose who can start a conversation.
Primary action: Open Messages · Settings: Communication
Allow messages to you
Turn on Allow messages to you in Messages or Communication settings. A Message button appears on your profile so people who discover you can write to you. You also need this on to send.
Who can message you
| Mode | Who can start a DM |
|---|---|
| Off | Nobody |
| Open | Anyone |
| Followers only | People who follow you |
There is no separate “message request” inbox. Choose Open or Followers if you want inbound mail.
Welcome from Adam
New accounts may see an automatic welcome thread from Adam (the founder). It is not a live chat. You can’t reply there. Use Support if you need a human.
